Katsushika Oui, daughter of the Ukiyo-e master Katsushika Hokusai, is a female Ukiyo-e artist.
In recent years, her Ukiyo-e works, which are characterized by a sense of color and shading, have been attracting attention.
Her style is bewitching and delicate, clever and daring, and it never ceases to fascinate the viewer. Although there are not many Ukiyo-e works available today, this book collects as many as possible.
It then explores Oui's painting and life by making full use of and examining the historical materials that have been left behind.
In addition, it has been pointed out that there is a possibility of a father-son collaboration in Hokusai's later years, as he was close to his father. This book presents new research perspectives by focusing on the similarities and differences between the father and son's styles, as well as the history of each work, including works introduced for the first time or specially published in this book.
